POLYBUTENE Polybutene is a lightly colored liquid, which does not stick or dry out the lips. Replaces drying mineral oils in skin-friendly lip glosses. OCTYLDODECANOL Softening ingredient, which gives a soft and velvety feel to the lips. SILICA Silica is a mineral found naturally in sandstone, clay and granite. Lump prevention. TRICONTANYL PVP Moisturizing humectant. Humectants help to keep the moisture content of a cosmetic product constant, both in the packaging and on the skin/lips. ETHYLHEXYL PALMITATE An ester (mixture) of 2-ethylhexyl alcohol and palmitic acid, which is an emollient ingredient. LECITHIN Vegetable lecithin derived from soy. Emulsifier (makes the other ingredients mix). MICA Coloring mineral. AROMA/PARFUM 0.05% Lotus flower extract is added to provide a soft, tangible scent. TOCOPHEROL Vitamin E. Antioxidant but also preservative. It is a preservative that does not inhibit bacterial growth, but an antioxidant that prevents fats and oils from oxidizing (absorbing oxygen and going rancid). TOCOPHEROL ACETATE A form of vitamin E that strengthens the skin's barrier function, protects the lipid balance of the skin barrier and reduces transepidermal water loss. ASCORBYL PALMITATE The most stable form of Vitamin C. Strengthening antioxidant. CALCIUM ALUMINUM BOROSILICATE "Bulking agent" – i.e. provides a smooth formula that glides easily on the lips without feeling sticky. CITRIC ACID Citric acid Used to allow for acidity which extends shelf life as bacteria have difficulty gaining a foothold in an acidic environment. Enhances and prolongs the effect of Vitamins E and C. SILICA DIMETHYL SILYTATE Anti-caking and moisturizing ingredient. BUTYLENE GLYCOL Viscosity reducing ingredient (contributes to the texture of the formula and makes it easier to apply) and emollient. CAPRYLYL GLYCOL Antibacterial, moisturizing and emollient ingredient. TIN OXIDE Used to reflect the shimmer of Mica, to create luster and vibrant colors.
